DIY fake flower arrangements
From selection to selection. From materials to methods. The most important things to know to make a perfect fake flower composition with DIY.
If we want our composition to enhance the environment for which it is intended, we must first choose a type of fake flowers that blend with the shades of color and style of the house or wall.In minimalist or modern environments, the fashion trend is to combine flowers of one or two colors slightly in contrast with those of the walls. In rustic environments, country flowers with warm tones and lots of green are always combined well with jute and rattan details, ladybirds and fake butterflies to be applied to the leaves. To limit only to the planters of terraces and balconies the flowers that imitate in all respects the real ones. The defect of this type of flowers is that they are clearly a fiction and risk looking like a bad copy of the real ones. Therefore, if they are not made to art, it is better not to use them, at least in the house where noticing the details is much easier. The most successful use that can be made of it is with the compositions of geraniums for balcony vases and planters. Better if red. Red fades less and lasts longer. The tiny leaves of the flowers move easily as the wind blows and the stems full of branches and leaves leave no glimpse of plastic, labels or the fake earth giving the feeling of a real plant. Therefore, also because of the fact that they are observed from greater distances, these compositions appear plausible, are of great visual impact and allow to have a balcony cared for without too much effort. The choice of flowers
Choose individual pieces and not bunches to combine with others. Better to always put together a few branches, of one or two flowers each, but of good quality. It is important that the branches are chosen in various lengths to better match them and create the right aesthetic balance in the composition. So in addition to the main flowers, that is those that you will notice the most and that we will place in front of all the others, we have to choose longer flowers to make the base and the back of the composition. The latter are usually not exactly flowers and often have the form of elongated branches or canes. They can reproduce existing elements in nature or simply be fashion objects that embellish floral compositions, giving them a touch of light or sometimes exclusive design. They must be of a slightly different color than the main flowers but of a homogeneous style. It is advisable to choose flowers with long stems. They lend themselves better to important compositions and in any case can always be shortened simply by cutting them with scissors and even the cut part can be reused as a background or as an axis of support of the composition to which to fix all the other flowers starting from the center. Be careful to choose intact branches.
How to make artificial flowers
The best way to create our compositions is to assemble it before putting it in the vase or making it. We must therefore procure everything we need, so in addition to the various types of flowers, even some twine or thread of line, transparent scotch, scissors and ribbons of various sizes and thickness combined with the shades of color of the flowers. We put everything on a work base and start with the arrangement of the back of the composition. Let's start with the canes, the longest and simplest branches or whatever will be the background for the main flowers. Then we place the flowers in question, from the highest to the lowest, avoiding placing them on the same optical line. in a staggered manner and based on color shades. In the case of balconies, since the flowers can be seen from all sides we begin with the more internal ones. In the central part, both in the balcony and in the deck, we will place the branches with some defects or more bare. Around and in front of the most beautiful but without too much crowd the vase.
At this point it is important to fix the flowers well with a little thread of transparent line or string. Thus avoiding dismantling immediately. This step is essential if we want to make a bouquet. We will need flowers with smaller stems, of a slightly different height, which this time we will place them close together and let the flowers create a hemisphere. We fix the stems in the part of the handle with scotch or twine that we will cover with a beautiful ribbon to define our bunch.
